Overview
The Village of New Albany prides itself on being a safe community, where there is strong interaction between our residents, businesses and police force. Fire emergencies are part of our 9-1-1 response system. Fire services are provided by The Plain Township Fire Department.
In keeping with our commitment to maintain the latest in law enforcement innovation, the New Albany Police Department moved into its new state-of-the-art facility in 2007. We welcome the opportunity to provide tours at any time. If you would like to arrange a tour for your group (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, pre-school, etc.), please contact us at 614-855-1234.
Letter From The Chief
It’s hard to believe that we have been in our new facility for one whole year. Yet it was in April 2007 that we moved into our new digs at 50 Village Hall Road. On May 11, 2007, we had our formal ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony. This year, we are planning on celebrating our one year anniversary with an open house. We have tentatively schedule the open house for Saturday, May 31, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Details are being worked out and will be available soon.
Safety Town registration has been open since April. So far, we have over 250 students registered to attend one of the two Safety Town sessions. The sessions are scheduled for June 16-26, 2008 and July 7-17, 2008. Click on the Safety Town link to the left for additional information and/or an application form.
We are ready to begin our late spring/summer/early fall special event season. It seems that New Albany has become the destination for numerous special events during the year. When I became police chief 10 years ago, we only had 2 special events. This year (2008), there are already over 20 events scheduled that will require police coordination/participation. For a small agency (17 officers), this becomes a very busy season for us.
The New Albany Police Department will soon have an officer graduating from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Basic Police Academy. In early June 2008, we anticipate Officer Catanese graduating from the academy and soon beginning his FTO (Field Training Officer) program this summer.
In closing, please remember that we have both our Monthly Reports and our Annual Report available for you perusal on our web site. Feel free to contact me (at 614-855-1234) if you have any comments or suggestions.
Sincerely,
Mark A. Chaney
Chief of Police
